The European Publishers Council (EPC) is shocked and deeply saddened by the death of the European Parliament's President, David Sassoli.
As a 3 times elected Member of the European Parliament and with a long career as a journalist before 2009, Sassoli has always taken steps to support and promote freedom of expression and the press.
Our thoughts and prayers go to his family and friends in this very difficult moment.
